It's not the most dazzling new land ever--think A Bug's Land but with a little more pizzazz. With three rides and a similar oversized theming, it's cute but no necessarily very photogenic. But one moment that does come off as striking is the entry sign, with a towering Woody standing next to it, emphasizing how guests have been reduced to toy size. The K-NEX railings and colorful signage add to the playful ambiance, and I like how this composition ends up looking radiant with a backlit sun!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8Ig_38LrBYU2_COLjWJX76VZZSwsuuH8hWesAv6OzD_UutWCmGhlyEkTMfnRH_-CdmV-sb6rqXT_zpFOV_KX4eCYibwwtrMVrIKcf-iHF0iGfWyhjIt7Cxu32hrD1qGYx01NypYq-uW36XFSowIFY_lHPwcQlzq35QqlUYWI89cGZO1RLVfcCAJXX6PE/s1920/2016-12-08_0353.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1920" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8Ig_38LrBYU2_COLjWJX76VZZSwsuuH8hWesAv6OzD_UutWCmGhlyEkTMfnRH_-CdmV-sb6rqXT_zpFOV_KX4eCYibwwtrMVrIKcf-iHF0iGfWyhjIt7Cxu32hrD1qGYx01NypYq-uW36XFSowIFY_lHPwcQlzq35QqlUYWI89cGZO1RLVfcCAJXX6PE/w640-h640/2016-12-08_0353.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Woody greets guests entering Hong Kong Disneyland's Toy Story Land.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-27547303797444595892024-03-17T15:45:00.000-07:002024-03-17T15:45:01.594-07:00A Pirate's Treasure<p>Today is St. Patrick's Day, and that typically conjures up connotations of leprechauns and pots of gold. But I don't have any Disney photos of that sort, so I'm going with the closest thing--piles of gold inside Pirates of the Caribbean! The skeleton here is a buccaneer, not a leprechaun, but he's probably pretty happy with his treasure nonetheless. And the undead pirates also enjoy imbibing in potent beverages too! It's just more of rum as opposed to Irish cream or whisky. But hey, close enough to tie in, right?</p><p>...Right?</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_BmT1pmWmUpI83Ct6pdVfXJ0chrW6GSY_mFtFraFEt_nSC1bXR3hwmnNDAjY0Y2XXltx62-iCQGn7BbqDhIrjgy-XSgeHfntNLEIiwLRlr_K6IytHgO2I4Q2GS9fVV4-ozZwgXPhPyv1q3FS1p1TRXadlvoXnZ5GLoE-cUFpNjpEOQITmG8LdGakbKmY/s1920/2018-06-08_0166.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_BmT1pmWmUpI83Ct6pdVfXJ0chrW6GSY_mFtFraFEt_nSC1bXR3hwmnNDAjY0Y2XXltx62-iCQGn7BbqDhIrjgy-XSgeHfntNLEIiwLRlr_K6IytHgO2I4Q2GS9fVV4-ozZwgXPhPyv1q3FS1p1TRXadlvoXnZ5GLoE-cUFpNjpEOQITmG8LdGakbKmY/w640-h400/2018-06-08_0166.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_p9Z-wkxKrHHIt2Er2v6uPMcL3z-DniItBvnccoTssPEi3hJAOsZPnZa11f-EMJDeS7ByU94og-dxJ1lszCGW_v8Xbgdi-QzLOpNlbpe3HEYvT78WZhh3kd7wjnKnph5EiWu9hwCQHNkJuCsNkTqc_sdIm3oOYerKb9ctHJTMMAmM60Ravb7nHdP65s4/s1920/2018-06-08_0167.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_p9Z-wkxKrHHIt2Er2v6uPMcL3z-DniItBvnccoTssPEi3hJAOsZPnZa11f-EMJDeS7ByU94og-dxJ1lszCGW_v8Xbgdi-QzLOpNlbpe3HEYvT78WZhh3kd7wjnKnph5EiWu9hwCQHNkJuCsNkTqc_sdIm3oOYerKb9ctHJTMMAmM60Ravb7nHdP65s4/w640-h400/2018-06-08_0167.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrgvcnnYfGY_5hjcDSlXYWWdmevEKiM73t5EldR01iyiClQPSpzATpGII8MvCEyZoabQfAn3UiHT3J5I-XpH3hsxOaa31SeIzb1DHUIL1cT57tsjtG3fTWwVso9PWH2Cqf6u3iP0WtLT-arsyoqkSPuN0aflrpB1V8pqZt8dK9AxBknbFJvRkkAzBwhEg/s1920/2018-06-08_0171.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrgvcnnYfGY_5hjcDSlXYWWdmevEKiM73t5EldR01iyiClQPSpzATpGII8MvCEyZoabQfAn3UiHT3J5I-XpH3hsxOaa31SeIzb1DHUIL1cT57tsjtG3fTWwVso9PWH2Cqf6u3iP0WtLT-arsyoqkSPuN0aflrpB1V8pqZt8dK9AxBknbFJvRkkAzBwhEg/w640-h400/2018-06-08_0171.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-5663229627082236922024-03-15T23:30:00.000-07:002024-03-16T00:37:49.762-07:00A Cruise on the Waterfront<p>Lots of people love to go on cruises. Not me but I can understand the appeal. You get a home base for an extended amount of time, allowing you to visit multiple destinations without having to repeatedly unpack and repack. Plus the ship amenities can be pretty relaxing. The food is great, apparently. Or at least people seem to feast a whole bunch on cruises. But I'd rather explore on my own and set my own itinerary and take in a destination for longer when I'd like. So that cruising life isn't really for me. At least not yet. It probably will one day, when I start valuing convenience more. But for now this might be the closest cruise ship I get on--the one they built as theming at Tokyo Disney Sea!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn1sASkHyIhyFs7uUODzrhpdEQ3_zCcwjTSdq9RKW6sr6czJqsw_zFkQNA3CfpM5QXrvUc4HXkmWJRTPWXqCGJe2As9PJkr4I2m-eol9szbYJWacWyt0OB6ic-7_TTWBBYGuaKY3pL2IrVWzCW1MSpGr6LC2paimPQtZbwmLMpQYO0aNDe03zSynUfe0U/s1920/2016-12-06_0372.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn1sASkHyIhyFs7uUODzrhpdEQ3_zCcwjTSdq9RKW6sr6czJqsw_zFkQNA3CfpM5QXrvUc4HXkmWJRTPWXqCGJe2As9PJkr4I2m-eol9szbYJWacWyt0OB6ic-7_TTWBBYGuaKY3pL2IrVWzCW1MSpGr6LC2paimPQtZbwmLMpQYO0aNDe03zSynUfe0U/w640-h400/2016-12-06_0372.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The Columbia at Tokyo Disney Sea on a beautiful day.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-39768298890229533402024-03-14T00:43:00.000-07:002024-03-14T00:43:39.327-07:00A Paradise Sun<p>Today's post digs deep into my archives to eight years ago, when a winter sunset provided a bit of a dramatic sky to cap off a lovely view over Paradise Bay. This was before the Pixar Pier renovation, and it offers what is now a piece of original Disney California Adventure--an iteration of the park that wasn't as focused on IP's as it is now and still retained the intent of celebrating the state. Though the bones of these elements remain today, they've been converted to more Pixar-centric themes, which makes sense from a popularity standpoint but carries some bittersweet residue for us nostalgia chasers.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgezu-vZqer7K80NUnh3LqYISBdFR_bxGnKq2kDRzgZlB4bh_95uKpUmDz6CsRGwi2zcDnz3l6rtRh2Bv9-lSWFuNmTQhpnuhogVvjRTulw1OPavJNWadRSMd7kgdZ5VJ5ZPTNv0L6wMs_zIny9GC1R8kOtXkoof1Tdi3raydUnjCzLeMmhGG3mwVYmAk/s1920/2016-01-01_0005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgezu-vZqer7K80NUnh3LqYISBdFR_bxGnKq2kDRzgZlB4bh_95uKpUmDz6CsRGwi2zcDnz3l6rtRh2Bv9-lSWFuNmTQhpnuhogVvjRTulw1OPavJNWadRSMd7kgdZ5VJ5ZPTNv0L6wMs_zIny9GC1R8kOtXkoof1Tdi3raydUnjCzLeMmhGG3mwVYmAk/w640-h400/2016-01-01_0005.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sunset over Paradise Bay.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-42774368405398332722024-03-13T23:50:00.000-07:002024-03-13T23:50:31.997-07:00The Most Uplifting Fountain<p>As we move toward spring and the notion of brighter, sunnier days, I thought it would be nice to post some more photos of the charming Mickey & Minnie Mouse fountain that debuted with the re-imagined Mickey's Toontown last year. The food is not so great and the lines are unreasonably long. But man, that exterior is such a photo op! Enhancing the Jules Verne-inspired steampunk aesthetic of Discoveryland, it references part of a never-built idea for a themed land by Disney Imagineering legend Tony Baxter. Poking out of its hangar, it seems poised for adventure--perhaps like something out of <i>Around the World in 80 Days</i>. In a park with a history of multiple renovations in its short 21 years, this is one of the originals that hasn't been rethemed or given some IP overlay (at least not yet). A scenic relic of the park's original California theme and mission, the mill at Grizzly River Run has become a classic part of DCA--and the Disneyland Resort!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVzP7z7kZgPJFg6A015C_UhmCMp_1AaC72ckEq3yT1CCcv-OC6yxh-J1-n_WEKytxtZygPq5IXSsHQXAcf_xUyOOtdTyf-I6YjP4CSYXsPq1oMczGc5sGnybB2qdWkg-tiw8iuW3rbbz4f7DEhMJQ2PQaqO4ZpoiLJHZ9h5avUL9-suLWpUYrM-lGPMDg/s1920/2020-01-19_0055.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVzP7z7kZgPJFg6A015C_UhmCMp_1AaC72ckEq3yT1CCcv-OC6yxh-J1-n_WEKytxtZygPq5IXSsHQXAcf_xUyOOtdTyf-I6YjP4CSYXsPq1oMczGc5sGnybB2qdWkg-tiw8iuW3rbbz4f7DEhMJQ2PQaqO4ZpoiLJHZ9h5avUL9-suLWpUYrM-lGPMDg/w640-h400/2020-01-19_0055.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-86041656861208698892024-03-08T00:00:00.000-08:002024-03-08T00:00:00.141-08:00Zoomed on Blooms<p>There hasn't really been an opportunity yet, but we're in that time of the year where, historically, the Happiest Place on Earth turns a vibrant shade of pink from all the blossoming tabebuia trees around the park (and the resort). Most iconic are the quartet around The Hub. Though they rarely bloom at the same time, they still add a vibrant and wonderful splash of color that pairs exceptionally well with the pink walls of Sleeping Beauty Castle beyond. This super-telephoto angle of the scene completes the juxtaposition even better than most other compositions I've shown. It's a sign of rebirth as the Disneyland Resort brightens up from its post-winter holiday state.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3sAbi6eykmpf575gwMaS9YeyeK1-UR5w7NbCa4CI7FPDv1orwwdqIFPvQHVYujM4MxriItvOO6CMnPQSJhh0oU91H7BK4fNGfQJ6uvNTJ4GiIM9BFXBISbFMrVxgJHO8nz6mkxdUKg-FfC99G8EJ08qJo-fztiSGiaxq1eki6iYiP9CR41uyh0tMc_Ps/s1920/2022-02-26_0079.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3sAbi6eykmpf575gwMaS9YeyeK1-UR5w7NbCa4CI7FPDv1orwwdqIFPvQHVYujM4MxriItvOO6CMnPQSJhh0oU91H7BK4fNGfQJ6uvNTJ4GiIM9BFXBISbFMrVxgJHO8nz6mkxdUKg-FfC99G8EJ08qJo-fztiSGiaxq1eki6iYiP9CR41uyh0tMc_Ps/w640-h400/2022-02-26_0079.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A very zoomed-in look at The Hub during springtime, with those tabebuia blooms.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-60613710576407752432024-03-06T00:00:00.000-08:002024-03-06T00:00:00.348-08:00Port to Horizon<p>Port Discovery is a relatively compact land in Tokyo Disney Sea, and most of its footprint is taken up by its two attractions, Aquatopia and Nemo & Friends SeaRider. But there are atmospheric components, and one vantagepoint I enjoy is the elevated level off the station of the Disney Sea Electric Railway that leads to steps down to the main land itself. There's a glimpse of the ocean horizon beyond, an entrance to the Horizon Bay Restaurant, and a sample of the futuristic seaport architecture that characterizes this area's story. It's certainly a nice whetting of the thematic appetite here at the Sea of Dreams!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-3J82ZrGu64UBiCQPzFLwUqcOl3s60p5q4CQWajWrNoItk54GzYiHfQlaGhWTizHgx7LfyUuJ29LdlJue6zLuevIGFE4TH5OKBBxrkDyVgE2ist_FshwYZqjxSGELmEyIFMRE4KULISGEfkucpzPvzYXddwgV7rpo1GOOqfGMEmu2cO1j2h0YMdseb8Y/s1920/2016-12-05_0228.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-3J82ZrGu64UBiCQPzFLwUqcOl3s60p5q4CQWajWrNoItk54GzYiHfQlaGhWTizHgx7LfyUuJ29LdlJue6zLuevIGFE4TH5OKBBxrkDyVgE2ist_FshwYZqjxSGELmEyIFMRE4KULISGEfkucpzPvzYXddwgV7rpo1GOOqfGMEmu2cO1j2h0YMdseb8Y/w640-h400/2016-12-05_0228.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Stairs overlooking the Port Discovery and Tokyo Bay.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-25899312705046667122024-03-05T00:00:00.000-08:002024-03-05T00:00:00.248-08:00Blue Ornament Valley<p>Ornament Valley takes on so many different personalities depending on the time of day and ambient setting. On a sunny afternoon, it captures the majesty of the desert, while at night, its luminous natural features evoke the splendor of the wilderness. And during twilight--that point past the afternoon but before the settling of the evening, the cool, darkening blue skies contrast against the warm Southwest red rock lighting to evoke something moody and in transition. It's especially augmented when puffy clouds appear, adding texture and visual interest. And it all ends up feeling satisfyingly sublime!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMertivSSbTsA1aP_PkbdKOgo0WZwqwf4rhnJ1sOtKF4ILnxnK_r8UeVfS70hOXTX_qTT2TNHpOoS7exO-FH14XHJbQSDiME9MP0XfsixBDOa0GfIy04GxbmpKqrkxHos5L0shbi5YVNnWU74GCOpL9gMay3eng4ttN_pjHHssk6-8NhR09kDAumD0cMc/s1920/2015-05-08_0016-0017HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMertivSSbTsA1aP_PkbdKOgo0WZwqwf4rhnJ1sOtKF4ILnxnK_r8UeVfS70hOXTX_qTT2TNHpOoS7exO-FH14XHJbQSDiME9MP0XfsixBDOa0GfIy04GxbmpKqrkxHos5L0shbi5YVNnWU74GCOpL9gMay3eng4ttN_pjHHssk6-8NhR09kDAumD0cMc/w640-h400/2015-05-08_0016-0017HDR.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Blue hour descends over Ornament Valley in Cars Land.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-45643346844086797712024-03-04T00:00:00.000-08:002024-03-04T00:00:00.135-08:00Fantasyland Focus<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The beauty of photography is that even though you're capturing a scene from real life as your eye sees it, you don't have to necessarily capture it *as* your eye sees it. Through play with depth of field and focus, one can highlight different parts of a scene and create compositions with very different feels--even if they're portraying the same thing. Zoom in on the foreground, and a detail from a lamp emerges. Focus on the background, and the architecture of Fantasyland comes into play. The ambiance is golden, and the direction is alike, but these are two different photos. And that's fun to play with!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjekJ4XmdkbcCmCProi6iSLF9gmNmDdtnlCvE9s8M4oRS-8fxNDR6svvUEpgjQwxRHqC0Qzr_6EzlSVIwl2L0vPE_36ecKPt1-f4XnebLLmPukq4MkvRvaRLam83uU4oZZxGOs1KM5DvU8ozF_9aSVbjhMPfymw9RJTD8V0uXmfHA9UhIz4ZasfdJpf5Ok/s1920/2013-11-30_0003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjekJ4XmdkbcCmCProi6iSLF9gmNmDdtnlCvE9s8M4oRS-8fxNDR6svvUEpgjQwxRHqC0Qzr_6EzlSVIwl2L0vPE_36ecKPt1-f4XnebLLmPukq4MkvRvaRLam83uU4oZZxGOs1KM5DvU8ozF_9aSVbjhMPfymw9RJTD8V0uXmfHA9UhIz4ZasfdJpf5Ok/w640-h400/2013-11-30_0003.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSB4wTTdwZYSUWdLbbytklq7QV9xCfZXBQ_rx6khPpqynzZXE7pjNYGk0PP8N-zHyAKUvdBs04yc3gTLCLhqDICIBjNUQd29U4g-1fZO_-kWtQLqPDeEfbTfwiunFHlvKTHOywBJzb-LpXSfBsPVno8bK0qwcxpseABiwUgYXu_zn1A9djs4wUywY9CkQ/s1920/2013-11-30_0002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSB4wTTdwZYSUWdLbbytklq7QV9xCfZXBQ_rx6khPpqynzZXE7pjNYGk0PP8N-zHyAKUvdBs04yc3gTLCLhqDICIBjNUQd29U4g-1fZO_-kWtQLqPDeEfbTfwiunFHlvKTHOywBJzb-LpXSfBsPVno8bK0qwcxpseABiwUgYXu_zn1A9djs4wUywY9CkQ/w640-h400/2013-11-30_0002.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-6995257807193746652024-03-02T00:00:00.000-08:002024-03-02T00:00:00.240-08:00Un Petit Monde<p>The exterior of It's a Small World has a different character in each of its iterations around the world, but after the original California version, I might like the Disneyland Paris version second best. The globe fountain and merry ship with multi-lingual pennants around it--all in front of a colorful version of the classic facade--make for a great photo composition. Located on the backside of Fantasyland, this version is given a presence and a chance to shine bright. It may have an inescapable earworm, but it's a terrific manifestation of a classic attraction!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGGiEQ2WQOxTEpkk3MyS5Ls5N7BU3Kf7_221v2qkGMBucrO5pio6xuARWK9Lln-ftHrunVnKpZwLCncc_yOntgStwK9tqyuq27Ffv_R27zMkICBPQBlV9uQK_IVExAhAxsHM9eTcIEm9bpH5tRZ-OgA37PnG8MSEq7OsnH_fYxPXgqDObcmg7TI4ks0FQ/s1920/2019-11-17_1265.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGGiEQ2WQOxTEpkk3MyS5Ls5N7BU3Kf7_221v2qkGMBucrO5pio6xuARWK9Lln-ftHrunVnKpZwLCncc_yOntgStwK9tqyuq27Ffv_R27zMkICBPQBlV9uQK_IVExAhAxsHM9eTcIEm9bpH5tRZ-OgA37PnG8MSEq7OsnH_fYxPXgqDObcmg7TI4ks0FQ/w640-h400/2019-11-17_1265.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Setting sail for the happy seas in Disneyland Paris.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-75085554690142382602024-03-01T00:00:00.000-08:002024-03-01T00:00:00.155-08:00The Fortress Docks<p>Tokyo Disney Sea is a theme park full of ports of call, so naturally, it has a variety of waterside features, and among the most common are docks, because where there's water, there's watercraft, and watercraft need a place to moor up and rest. Many of the dock features in the park are for show, but one area where guests can actually explore and stroll along is Fortress Explorations--an oversized playground themed immaculately to a post-medieval Italian seaside. With a galleon tied up and a smaller schooner a little beyond, it's a superb coastal feature, and this pair of photos of the area hardly do it any justice!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhslL6FMkrXOTKD22GjmxEqkDpWf_ETWnpJL1GPKKwy9qGR8Hpp9tncSIYLWJXz-XkYl8F3_PlO_vbUPQ98So_Vg7ICHjIT8qsw9f2PH1Y8E7Xsfg1gG8Hl39rYh_S4ZKCbj8b_GnMG3tFtfyM577zXyQ6AD-tKIA4-MtsxRFqO5vYxAP0-Q0xe2QjeXsw/s1920/2016-12-06_0092.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhslL6FMkrXOTKD22GjmxEqkDpWf_ETWnpJL1GPKKwy9qGR8Hpp9tncSIYLWJXz-XkYl8F3_PlO_vbUPQ98So_Vg7ICHjIT8qsw9f2PH1Y8E7Xsfg1gG8Hl39rYh_S4ZKCbj8b_GnMG3tFtfyM577zXyQ6AD-tKIA4-MtsxRFqO5vYxAP0-Q0xe2QjeXsw/w640-h400/2016-12-06_0092.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7zSHFnm_fFhWPB6nCaUhs-y_cGMzHPjZLXWWrdbwW9Bg6jFeukur1uD3aimUhsRAY1WvPgQG1lX0fX5Pel6RDyeQkW6AiGBZPQEc6dwW_MsnrUGStKHpmKqImzGd58vHGU45hbOMq6jbJGuoPI633sQaaKcg9FhAllEjc5pFhuLTskkGmkNmIZWch4N0/s1920/2016-12-06_0093.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7zSHFnm_fFhWPB6nCaUhs-y_cGMzHPjZLXWWrdbwW9Bg6jFeukur1uD3aimUhsRAY1WvPgQG1lX0fX5Pel6RDyeQkW6AiGBZPQEc6dwW_MsnrUGStKHpmKqImzGd58vHGU45hbOMq6jbJGuoPI633sQaaKcg9FhAllEjc5pFhuLTskkGmkNmIZWch4N0/w640-h400/2016-12-06_0093.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-42769755252201286662024-02-29T00:00:00.000-08:002024-02-29T00:00:00.138-08:00Make the Leap and Kiss the Girl<p>Today's title is a bit of a stretch, but I can only make this sort of reference once every 4 years. In this case, it's tying to an almost-pivotal scene in <i>The Little Mermaid</i> that has been faithfully captured Ariel's Undersea Adventure at Disney California Adventure (with a basically identical version in Walt Disney World). It's the famous "Kiss the Girl" scene, and though Flotsam and Jetsam don't interrupt it by flipping the rowboat that Prince Eric and Ariel share, it has that building moment to that almost-kiss that the title song keeps encouraging. Alas, they can't ever seem to quite seal the deal and break Ursula's spell!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6MvmH6QgWRDsQ4CSorD3uFfFC8xF6UOYZBzCL6IEso2Jm2eQAMgYqup9Z1L5_yaVk6JzpjfgFERnAodhrD0tPfyqsr30uHhtSjaA2iNryfrpXFKCSo9nLTGv9ku3RA6Hb1pqSgmg4S3RK3CY630tjr6eYAkS_ISJ8seK1zCln-vUvu4zYBi78v6z178M/s1920/2024-02-11_0060.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6MvmH6QgWRDsQ4CSorD3uFfFC8xF6UOYZBzCL6IEso2Jm2eQAMgYqup9Z1L5_yaVk6JzpjfgFERnAodhrD0tPfyqsr30uHhtSjaA2iNryfrpXFKCSo9nLTGv9ku3RA6Hb1pqSgmg4S3RK3CY630tjr6eYAkS_ISJ8seK1zCln-vUvu4zYBi78v6z178M/w640-h400/2024-02-11_0060.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuNPnwvVjCLoNQbAJYe524z9wtsY4kxEUHgFSChqO6ENKMdbpYJuh7_aIuomb0Iuv0yRxkmjrK-g8YipE97NQqiD4dXZTslr5rgnWYrm7Kz1B7MCbZuSOq_pLMUVmj9UpTj-eEz87Uy9o997SwchtTQIvXNZmblEy6oZHh5j9OFMPR4PHCvMg_nt2OtA8/s1920/2024-02-11_0056.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuNPnwvVjCLoNQbAJYe524z9wtsY4kxEUHgFSChqO6ENKMdbpYJuh7_aIuomb0Iuv0yRxkmjrK-g8YipE97NQqiD4dXZTslr5rgnWYrm7Kz1B7MCbZuSOq_pLMUVmj9UpTj-eEz87Uy9o997SwchtTQIvXNZmblEy6oZHh5j9OFMPR4PHCvMg_nt2OtA8/w640-h400/2024-02-11_0056.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix74iY_cKvT3G4t-O5vBCrgQ0XH5Nd1tobhYMfSZc7G4J_urEUUvB6JDkYHu0481cV-t0dEGPj1VscQ72D3g8GT83mnJeBCp_gSrz8_-D73JkjKa5sNoBthhAaFWZxsYEDhHiZupRgUW_odSJl5Qd5d_-7XSa4xGBSZ1rBs4n-OmbAedTkgSzBhd1QA6Y/s1920/2024-02-11_0057.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix74iY_cKvT3G4t-O5vBCrgQ0XH5Nd1tobhYMfSZc7G4J_urEUUvB6JDkYHu0481cV-t0dEGPj1VscQ72D3g8GT83mnJeBCp_gSrz8_-D73JkjKa5sNoBthhAaFWZxsYEDhHiZupRgUW_odSJl5Qd5d_-7XSa4xGBSZ1rBs4n-OmbAedTkgSzBhd1QA6Y/w640-h400/2024-02-11_0057.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSLM5rgn_tMLJmMNUoPZBhTiApLb84iofx9FKYuQsW1KpDRd8O1K_8Dm_E6rMcFV25mCucxk9XJuoagij4MyuXzzKW0RSjJfH7j-oDED0xK4hS0noTrmLdUO3QQmXhWdasN9_KuIaNW_Ibwi3XoJp_ikCgJTczjC4D2MobH38R-OGFF4i7x-fi81cEQzg/s1920/2024-02-11_0058.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSLM5rgn_tMLJmMNUoPZBhTiApLb84iofx9FKYuQsW1KpDRd8O1K_8Dm_E6rMcFV25mCucxk9XJuoagij4MyuXzzKW0RSjJfH7j-oDED0xK4hS0noTrmLdUO3QQmXhWdasN9_KuIaNW_Ibwi3XoJp_ikCgJTczjC4D2MobH38R-OGFF4i7x-fi81cEQzg/w640-h400/2024-02-11_0058.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-56997011617639446922024-02-27T00:00:00.000-08:002024-02-27T00:00:00.133-08:00A Rainy Noir in New Orleans<p>What started as a pretty dry winter--especially in comparison to last season--has turned wet this past month with several storms rolling through the Southern California area. And while I unfortunately haven't been able to time a trip to the Disneyland Resort during one of these incidents of precipitation (the trick is to go when the rain is light or letting up, vs pouring and unrelenting, which some of these storms have been), I do have photos from past rainy evening trips to the Happiest Place on Earth. So today's photo from a night in New Orleans Square five years ago serves to commemorate the precipitation recovery that February has blessed us with. The scene is moody enough, anyway!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVq0c-4GVqIs2WXHTpzosy7po7nLEzaqmDQrZu3XHcdx5G9wlD95yolkDHeQzbd1Mt_8wQEN81b6sGoY1H-ccnlguNjGKuD7r9f5nQOdOZGGyCrZooTiFYrjIqnKlYTD7G0YPCDM_pQhwsLwuZjPSdHhRsKCqN0As36BcCeBGHXE_ghyh9tRNXJ_D0hDE/s1920/2019-02-01_0030.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVq0c-4GVqIs2WXHTpzosy7po7nLEzaqmDQrZu3XHcdx5G9wlD95yolkDHeQzbd1Mt_8wQEN81b6sGoY1H-ccnlguNjGKuD7r9f5nQOdOZGGyCrZooTiFYrjIqnKlYTD7G0YPCDM_pQhwsLwuZjPSdHhRsKCqN0As36BcCeBGHXE_ghyh9tRNXJ_D0hDE/w640-h400/2019-02-01_0030.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A drizzly evening on Royal Street.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-13735958173852040872024-02-26T00:00:00.000-08:002024-02-26T00:00:00.128-08:00Around Thunder Mesa<p>Most of my Disneyland Paris Frontierland photos are focused on the hauntingly magnificent Phantom Manor and the mightily thrilling Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. But the actual land itself is pretty photogenic too, and it comes with its own backstory. Here, Frontierland is Thunder Mesa, a mining town that looks nostalgic and charming but is also under the shadow of Henry Ravenswood, the menacing and malevolent developer who took residence in Phantom Manor and controlled the mines at Big Thunder Mountain. Most of the sinister and supernatural actions center around the two marquee icons of the area, and for the most part, the rest of town looks like a cheerful and scenic place to visit. Just know that the aura of the Phantom still pervades, no matter how sunny things might look!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvMeG4Kb5Vw4fmPWKJTMrRq5xH3-foD0QBzjcS0gsdmOwsJ2gXuT96htcRJxAgfPqZLJUn6g6uX61anOzALAxlJxtvHO2u9PGUyHpiE5MNUEOJh-cx91mgblJQ0wNUPo0a1UrwY9WiZT0q2vpUMigR_1KLLMNarJJpOVXWL5zrXCbxXMOGPUyoPvUs1uY/s1920/2019-11-17_0495.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; For $12 (an appropriate amount given that number's association in the Chinese zodiac), a talented candy craftsman could paint one of eight creatures or designs for guests to enjoy. Not only did these indulge one's sweet tooth, they also showcased one-of-a-kind art, because the hand-made nature of these treats ensured that no two creations were ever alike. It was a pretty neat addition, and I hope this offering is here to stay for future Lunar New Year Celebrations!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdYKR4YfvXEiWemDLoRuHACeZNfH5yLYAgLfMdvqxoYApS39WQ4OdujOkG7Y_h2BOC0823hxVCT8a82WnkF12WgttjaI3GuI_0AjSPL3NIAVC_nLpQ_JVflS5lOfv5M2siaZfdnaxpxicMYmItl85uUrs57kvghuCTn8yH3j-_HCQ9T-wRBf7j-FcuXyc/s1920/2024-02-11_0024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; This one, however, is absent of any Twilight Zone references. Instead, it features the personal office of an infamous plunderer of treasures and artifacts, and the preshow tells the story of how he met his demise via the stained glass window prominently featured front and center and the very statue of Shiriki Utundu, the idol who banished Hightower to another realm. It's a somber and atmospheric space, and it looks pretty spooky in the hotel's post-heyday aftermath. But it makes for a pretty riveting photographic subject.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEMdFUQO0gINKg2dNFMZQ8CfFlyTD210sbUWEdK42NYjIs3tWGtgT_QRIoT_7RT5jIPY2UtH2z0CgrKqFe50OVHvhyphenhyphenzZmRZzbnoVgtAOtSMLttpT0cww1nX0qixasokebG-5zdnicTVXrmxWDxOOdfsJHMQcPSwxaN6rfaKnetBsZf4MyIVR2kpKgFI94/s1920/2016-12-05_0175.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEMdFUQO0gINKg2dNFMZQ8CfFlyTD210sbUWEdK42NYjIs3tWGtgT_QRIoT_7RT5jIPY2UtH2z0CgrKqFe50OVHvhyphenhyphenzZmRZzbnoVgtAOtSMLttpT0cww1nX0qixasokebG-5zdnicTVXrmxWDxOOdfsJHMQcPSwxaN6rfaKnetBsZf4MyIVR2kpKgFI94/w640-h400/2016-12-05_0175.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The moody study of Harrison Hightower, including a most dastardly idol.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-71740870410884752442024-02-22T00:00:00.000-08:002024-02-22T00:00:00.335-08:00Up Close and Flowerful<p>The Mickey Mouse floral is a part of every Magic Kingdom entrance in one way or another. At Shangai Disneyland, it greets guests after they have entered the turnstiles but before they duck under what looks like a train station depot. But Shanghai Disneyland doesn't have an encircling railroad, so the structure is just for show. I took enough that even a decade later, I'm still finding unedited snapshots. But you can't blame me. The golden light, sunny views, and lovely panorama evoked the most positive vibes of Walt Disney's optimistic look to tomorrow, and these shots still evoke warm fuzzies so many years later of a certain "Beautiful Tomorrow," like that famous song goes!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfTUL_FEafTgDKEibsYUSxa4Woxjbu5ANOtUml_F1OF5Z_v0nKz7BxQFFSAGTh1fc-R058jLfkczZBOTaza2p6vBQudIRrSDJ6FWSmRyvngHhVeJlhZlLOo5DbypoBHB1Z1u6jc58aCkztgB2u4-nzHe6GChOTRwaOmd4OlIkRmP2rUVWKHBhL1ih4FJg/s1920/2014-04-20_0095.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfTUL_FEafTgDKEibsYUSxa4Woxjbu5ANOtUml_F1OF5Z_v0nKz7BxQFFSAGTh1fc-R058jLfkczZBOTaza2p6vBQudIRrSDJ6FWSmRyvngHhVeJlhZlLOo5DbypoBHB1Z1u6jc58aCkztgB2u4-nzHe6GChOTRwaOmd4OlIkRmP2rUVWKHBhL1ih4FJg/w640-h400/2014-04-20_0095.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sunset from Tomorrowland's old Innoventions building.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-24015902162883995362024-02-19T00:00:00.000-08:002024-02-19T00:00:00.143-08:00Mei Mei and Ming Lee<p>This year is the Year of the Dragon, but you might be forgiven for thinking it's the year of the red panda at the Disneyland Resort, because the Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure seems to have leaned hard on the <i>Turning Red</i> representation. There is a lot of merchandise featuring the 2022 Pixar movie, and a highlight is this year's debut of a <i>Turning Red</i> character meet-and-greet featuring Meilin and Ming Lee--the protagonist and her mother duo who star in this coming-of-age film. This photo op is located in the little San Francisco Painted Ladies neighborhood of what used to be Pacific Wharf (so to me, this is technically part of San Fransokyo Square now). The actors who portray these characters have nailed the looks, with Mei capturing the exuberance and energy and Ming Lee showing her stoic elegance. They've been a popular hit this season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them return in future years, similar to how Raya has taken up recurring residence at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; In Paris, one difference from the original Magic Kingdom in Anaheim is the presence of an ornate gazebo that provides a nice, slightly elevated view up Main Street toward the castle and also a pretty photo op just as a setting or for portraits of selfies. The garden space that surrounds it is verdant and feels like a blend between small-town Americana and a Parisian city park. The result is something that is doubly charming, which is the average amount of charm at Disneyland Paris park!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpv8odZt1n-m56R7he1xdmrvjxMYUn7RH8ODDHcsSCY_8OS0YUMKzAhAKh6pSrW-JKmbpVUru-TLajTszKIla1TaVOW9dYwXg3lJZIlxI2RyFTWkfjYEtlfD_anxVM3CIdBffoxdb1gaOG5usTIYEqpwugu-0zavllgHKRlM4feJIe0H4yFW6gp85jtQ8/s1920/2014-08-31_0177.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpv8odZt1n-m56R7he1xdmrvjxMYUn7RH8ODDHcsSCY_8OS0YUMKzAhAKh6pSrW-JKmbpVUru-TLajTszKIla1TaVOW9dYwXg3lJZIlxI2RyFTWkfjYEtlfD_anxVM3CIdBffoxdb1gaOG5usTIYEqpwugu-0zavllgHKRlM4feJIe0H4yFW6gp85jtQ8/w640-h400/2014-08-31_0177.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A cloudy morning at Disneyland Paris' Town Square.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2320511128449397193.post-3899809980124621832024-02-17T00:00:00.000-08:002024-02-17T00:00:00.133-08:00Signs of the Dragon<p>This is the final weekend of the Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure, and it seems like time has flown by for this seasonal event. Although it has lasted four weekends this year, it feels like it hasn't been enough--perhaps because I wasn't able to make it to the parks for the event this year until this past Sunday. Although the Lunar New Year Celebration has settled into a familiar routine and combination of live entertainment, cultural showcase, limited time shopping, and seasonal gourmet dishes, it's still a wonderful and very popular event that provides valued representation for Asian cultures and spreads appreciation amongst Disney guests.</p><p>Here are some snapshots focused on general signage at this year's event--with special emphasis on this 2024 being the Year of the Dragon!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; But I'm okay with this. There's a certain appeal to this rustic frame of wilderness and watercraft--the trees of Frontierland framing the Mark Twain in the distance. The shadows in the foreground and the wooded skyline in the background offer a sense of mystery in this undeveloped land--a hint at the mystique of the allure of Western exploration back in the pioneer days. This is an ambiance shot, but I kind of like it!</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg13uV9P6St8McXqDmQeT6KVC4hpW6xbCOmclLkLMKxWKg7Q6240TaR32Sl7nSNWvif_MR0p4Fe2A2KhDSmW_3u-4LWsyYUSRUaH24mN-7al_ai0wq9RrPjzzNhSToF62ligjfAWG1N3iim8LICBkXn3Xg9VWiwHj-Noh20japdeReJ1R4LuKQb6WDnod0/s1920/2014-05-10_0019-0020HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1920" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg13uV9P6St8McXqDmQeT6KVC4hpW6xbCOmclLkLMKxWKg7Q6240TaR32Sl7nSNWvif_MR0p4Fe2A2KhDSmW_3u-4LWsyYUSRUaH24mN-7al_ai0wq9RrPjzzNhSToF62ligjfAWG1N3iim8LICBkXn3Xg9VWiwHj-Noh20japdeReJ1R4LuKQb6WDnod0/w640-h400/2014-05-10_0019-0020HDR.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Late night in the still of Frontierland and Frontier Landing.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p>Corkscrewedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07999011221256264360noreply@blogger.com0
