Snow Shining Bright

With thousands of tiny LED bulbs draping the cool blue thatched roofs and rosy pink and lavender walls, all aglow with a wintery wash of illumination, Sleeping Beauty's Castle is not an easy subject to shoot at night, during the holiday season.  Capture the detail of the lit snow effect, and everything else falls into shadow.  Try to overexpose to compensate for that, and the castle becomes a glowing ball of white fire.  So in a case like this, high dynamic range imaging (HDR) is actually needed for practical reasons.  With enough effort, processing, and masking, though, you can unveil an image that comes back to matching what the eye sees when gazing upon this wonderous Disneyland holiday sight.
