A Hall of Holiday Portraits

Once upon a time, I could have never taken the photo below with one exposure. Either everything would be too dark and shadowy or the highlights--the bright portions of the photos like the portraits and the lamps--would have been enormously too bright.  But with technological advances comes greater ease in doing what was once more troublesome, so I think it's pretty cool that I was able to take a photo that initially looked underexposed on camera, then recover enough shadows while keeping the highlights not too blown out so that this space can look pretty evenly illuminated.

Of course, Disneyland fans know that this hallway is never this bright in real life unless emergency lights have gone on.  But still, it's cool to craft a scene in a manner that's rarely seen!
