The Backlot Back in the Day

As the Disneyland Paris Resort's Walt Disney Studios races toward its March 29th re-christening into Disney Adventure Park, we look back toward the earlier days of this long lampooned sister park of Disneyland Paris and universally agreed upon worst Disney theme park among the twelve that exist worldwide.  Originally conceived as basically a French version of Disney MGM / Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, this park built on the cheap never really established any momentum, especially when placed next to its much more beautiful, sprawling, and immersive Magic Kingdom neighbor.  It's list of attractions weren't that many, and the ambiance around the park sorely lacked that Disney magic. Even the infusion of Pixar elements in Toon Studios--including a charming Ratatouille mini-land--didn't make the park a can't-miss destination.

When the park becomes Disney Adventure World, all the problems won't be fixed then either. But there will be a more expansive layout with additional future lands planned, a nighttime show, and more promise to what this park can really become--something full time and worthy of the Disney name.  In the meantime, here are some attractions in the park's former Backlot area that have yielded to Yesterland or been transformed into new re-imaginings in their Avengers Campus.  Now, they are but memories of Disneyland Paris' sister park 1.0!

Walt Disney Studios Paris also featured a Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, featuring Aerosmith, similar to Disney Hollywood Studios.

This attraction is now the Avengers Assemble: Flight Force roller coaster.

There used to be a special effects show themed after the movie Armageddon.

That was torn down as part of the Avengers Campus transformation.

The Lights! Motors! Action! stunt show was one of the popular hits of the park--a great transplant from Florida.

And one of the quick serve restaurants in this corner of the park!
