The Columbia, Outside of Space
Today's blog title describes the photo itself... Disneyland's S.S. Columbia is docked along the Rivers of America, and in the distance... Space Mountain, associated with space, associated with the space shuttle, and what was the first space shuttle ever? That was the Columbia. It's a name that's long been associated with exploration--having been derived from Christopher Columbus, mythological (though not factual) discoverer of the Americas. And I think it's a nice juxtaposition to have the Old West in the foreground and the sci-fi tomorrow in the background!
