Torii Reflections
It's hard to understate just how much the simple but striking modification of the old bridge spanning the waterway between Pacific Wharf and the Parade Corridor / Golden State area has invigorated a part of the park that had gotten a little stale and forgotten. The San Fransokyo Square refurbishment as a whole brought new, vibrant building facades, and energetic east/west fusion ambiance, and delicious new food offerings. But it's the Torii Gate Bridge that serves as a marker to attract guests toward this re-energized hub of dining and atmosphere. Its photogenic form and towering presence make it a "weenie" much like many of the classic visual markers that the original Walt Disney Imagineers employed when designing Disneyland. Sometimes, big moves don't have to be that drastic!
