Batuu Bound by Fog
On my last visit at Disneyland for a late night holiday photo run, I got the bonus of a surreal experience when I cut through Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge on my way from Fantasyland into Bayou Country. Upon passing through the gateway into Batuu, I found myself in an empty setting, staring at an eerily foggy scene obscuring those towering petrified tree spires in the distance. The fact that the Black Spire Outpost was deserted was already motivation enough to set up my camera for a few non-Christmas photos, but the moody scene and striking colors made for an environment that does not come along often. After snapping my exposures, I paused briefly to take everything in. It felt very escapist at that moment, as though I really was on some exotic faraway planet after hours, when everyone had gone to sleep. Even now, Disneyland has a way of offering magic even after all these times I've visited.
