Ghosts of the Gulch
In Disneyland Paris' Phantom Manor--their version of the Haunted Mansion--when guests emerge from Ravenswood Manor, they don't stumble upon a frollicking cemetery scene. At least not in the same way as the classic original or the Walt Disney World / Tokyo Disneyland version. Instead, they come upon a ghostly western town inhabited by various specters.
This is Phantom Canyon, and it's an Old West version of the Haunted Mansion cemetery scene (complete with its own stylized jingle) with a supernatural twist. The different inhabitants show off their ethereal abilities in various ways--be it tickling the ivories of a piano with a body reaching out of a compartment to hold a candelabra to a mayor to tips his hat and ends up tipping his entire severed head to an apothecary pharmacist who demonstrates a beastly transformation. It's all a little darker, a little scarier, but still fun and playful to some degree. And that pretty much characterizes Phantom Manor. It's more brooding, more foreboding, but it's also absolutely spectacular!
