Villains Away by First Light

Villain's Grove is a spectacular walkthrough that takes guests into a literal journey of light to experience Disney narratives abstracted into projections and lighting effects, and theatrical moments.  This nighttime overlay of the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, in Disney California Adventure's Grizzly Peak, is hidden during the daytime, when the trail operates as normal, but on Oogie Boogie Bash nights, its transformation into Villains Grove provides a dazzling display of photogenic radiance.  

The attraction brings guests through the light-filled worlds of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Alice in Wonderland, The Lion King, The Princess and the Frog, and other Disney films.  But its uplifting and mesmerizing finale is a path "into the light," almost representing a heavenly sunrise to sweep the darkness of villainy away.  This moment is a photographer's dream, as the backlight, warm lighting set against the cool forest illumination of the surrounding forest makes for a beautiful juxtaposition.  And the silhouette of guests entering the golden splendor creates a dramatic moment that feels like a sort of stepping into paradise.  It's all decidedly dreamy, and it's possibly my favorite moment in the entire attraction!
