The Monochrome Mountain Railroad

I was editing this old photo of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad that I took years ago during the gray hour period, and the drab skies and cool hues on the otherwise warm, sandstone rocks that mark this iconic ride really weren't doing much in the attention-grabbing department.  And then it occurred to me... I've been in this photo editing situation before, and making the image monochrome helped restore some interest to it by enhancing a sense of moodiness around the scene!  So with that in mine, I set about injecting more contrast than usual and accented the scene with some vignetting to make it feel a little more evocative.

Did it work?

  1. It looks great! The added contrast really makes it feel like it's an old picture.
