The Energy of the 70th
As a photographer, it's really fun to play with perspective and either stretch out a composition or compress the depth to emphasize different effects of a scene. In this example below, Main Street USA is busy and packed, and the use of a telephoto lens to focus on something in the background and blur the people in the foreground via the focal length makes the activity and energy feel even greater. Plus, the trees framing Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle add for a great ambiance, making it feel like the scene unfolds as guests walk forward toward the Hub. In a way, it does, because Walt Disney planned the park to consider sightlines and connections and offer a cinematic feel. That's an unconscious part of what set Disneyland apart from all other amusement parks before.
70 years later, it's still weaving that same experiential magic!
