Journey to the Center of the Earth is an exquisite example of continuous storytelling in a Disney attraction from the moment guests enter the line all the way until the ride exit. Just boarding the ride requires a bit of a journey through the queue, which takes guests into caverns and past laboratories and through the excavations that Captain Nemo has previously made. One of my favorite parts is this slightly curving cavern near the loading station. Normally, it's relatively packed with people. But at the end of the night, even this massively popular ride can be a walk-on, which allows some great atmospheric shots devoid of anyone in the way. The lighting, the space, and the leading lines indicate adventure ahead, and that's just a small part of the allure of one of the best rides Disney has ever designed!
