Volcano from the Side
As I've written countless times, Tokyo Disney Sea is the most beautiful and immersive theme park in the entire world, and probably nowhere is this more pronounced than in Mysterious Island, the Jules Verne-inspired themed port of call that creates a realm unlike anything seen anywhere else. This is a watery caldera, with lifesize rockwork that literally wraps around guests from all sides, hiding two excellent attractions hidden deep beneath in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth. The integration of structure and landscape is immaculate here, capturing a synergy that is absolutely astounding. Everything here feels epic, from the towering volcano of Mount Prometheus to the rock drilling rigs embedded into the side of the mountain to the Steampunk architecture that is both fantastical and technological-looking. Inside Mysterious Island, even the rest of the park washes away, thoroughly enveloping guests into a magnificent dream. What an incredible atmosphere this jewel of the park is!
