The Little Tugboat that Could

Tokyo Disney Sea is abound in details, and one example of its commitment to a hyperrealism in theming is the grand Columbia ocean liner parked in the water off the American Waterfront. It's massive in scale, contains a theater, a restaurant, and multiple viewing decks, and is a stately attraction.  But it's also got a companion: a little tugboat that doesn't actually do anything but represents the tugboats that used to tow or guide steamships into or out of harbor, guiding them with better control than those big ships normally had.  This is a great display of how Tokyo Disney Sea focuses on all aspects of immersion.  The ship is theming, and most peopel wouldn't miss it if it wasn't there. But the detail is nice for those who understand and appreciate, and it completes this magnificent scene!

The mighty little Hercules sits in front of the S.S. Columbia at Tokyo Disney Sea, ready to pull its share to help the steamer get along if needed.
