Fairy Tale Forest

Back in 2015, when I took my first trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, I noticed an attraction that--for all intents and purposes--looked complete and not under refurbishment.  And yet, it was closed.  It turns out that this was a brand new attraction that hadn't opened yet.  The following year, when I returned to Hong Kong Disney, I made sure to stop by the now-opened attraction, called Fairy Tale Forest.  What I found was a garden setting housing what was essentially a walk-through version of the Storybook Land Canal Boats attraction, with model versions of famous Disney castles and scenes.  It actually turned out to be a lovely and charming stroll through beloved Disney animated classics, so here's a photo tour of Hong Kong Disneyland's Fairy Tale Forest!

The entrance of the walk-through attraction.

Tangled is the first movie we encounter.

In addition to static sets, there were also little picture box scenes that would become animated as guests turned a crank at the bottom of the diorama.

Next, something from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

A nearby storybook provided a summary of the scene.

These frames also created compositions for the scenes beyond.

The heart of Fairy Tale Forest featured Beauty and the Beast.

Framing Beast's castle.

It's a very impressive piece, and guests can get much closer here than they do on the original, inspirational Storybook Land Canal Boats!

The cute "Be Our Guest" sequence.

Onto Cinderella.

Cindy through the woods (sorry for the distorting glare).

Last but not least, The Little Mermaid.

The storybook narrates the "Kiss the Girl" scene.

And there it is in a little cove!

Turn the crank for the "Under the Sea" sequence.

The last frame reveals Triton's Kingdom.

The waterfall over it creates the "underwater" effect when it runs, stopping to reveal a clearer view of the scene from time to time.
